Performance Nutrition
"He that takes medicine and neglects diet, wastes the skill of the physician."
- Chinese Proverb
Why should I care about nutrition?
Whether we are athletes or business executives, one thing we have in common is that we have to perform at a high level on a daily basis. And the more effort you put into performing (whether physically or cerebrally), the more nutrients you’ll use. Performance nutrition is about taking in the right combination of nutrients to replace the deficits that you create in training or performance, and to help you recover as quickly as possible so that you can do it all over again.
How can nutrition improve my performance?
In addition to the demands of training and performance, each of us is completely individual, physically and biochemically unique. Our individual digestive and metabolic processes influence how each of us breaks down and uses the foods we eat. Your optimal nutrition plan (incorporating what, when and how much you need to eat) will be completely different to someone else’s.
That makes it very hard to know what’s best for you. There’s so much contradictory information out there: how do you work out what you should be eating? Is it enough just to eat whole foods, or do you need to supplement with extra protein bars, vitamins and energy drinks? This is where our performance nutritionist can help, by analysing your needs and your diet, and from that creating you an individually tailored nutrition plan.
Why should I use Victory?
Victory’s performance nutritionist, Dr Justin Roberts, believes that high-level performance is built on a foundation of good health:

He will create for you a tailored nutrition plan based on a set of pre-assessment lifestyle, health and diet questionnaires plus face-to-face consultations during which he can analyse your body composition and discuss your individual needs and concerns.
Typically, a nutrition consultation package will include:
- An assessment of any underlying medical conditions or concerns that may require additional support
- Diagnosis of potential nutrient deficiencies, dietary imbalances and wholefood requirements
- Practical and evidence based advice on your current diet in line with your goals
- Personalised advice on what to eat and when to eat it
- Advice on specific wholefoods and nutritional supplementation that may benefit you
- Body composition analysis and related testing for motivation, progression and personal success
- Ongoing support and updated progressive advice tailored to your objectives
Importantly, you won’t be expected to make massive changes all at once. But as your body changes in response to the changes you make to your diet, so your health will improve and you’ll move up the pyramid, working your way through great health to top performance.
