Pre-Training Assessments
We think Personal Training is great: individual strength and conditioning sessions tailored to help you achieve your goals, whether they be to do with weight loss, performance or getting buff for the beach.
However, if you have an injury or an area of weakness, tightness or imbalance, there is the possibility that training that area could make it worse. And if you haven't been training for a while, you may not be aware that there is a problem - and even the best Personal Trainers aren't psychic!
So, to minimise the risk, before you start a course of Personal Training, we recommend that you get checked out by one of our musculoskeletal therapists.
We'll analyse your posture, joint flexibility, muscle flexibility and strength, looking for any imbalances that could affect the results you get from your training. We'll then sit down with you and discuss our findings and recommendations - whether you're perfectly fit to start training immediately, or whether there are some issues that need to be addressed during or before your training programme, or simply some positions or exercises to be avoided at first, until your strength and flexibility improve.
The information we produce will also be sent to and discussed with your Personal Trainer so that they can tailor your programme as individually as possible.
Our standard pre-training assessment is a 30-minute whistle-stop tour of your body and is great for peace of mind if you don't generally have any problems. But for a more in-depth look at any specific niggles that may be worrying you, we'd highly recommend booking an hour.
